EPF withdrawal Online Procedure

Mainly, the withdrawal of EPF can be made either by:

  1. Submission of an online application
  2. Submission of a physical application for withdrawal

1. Submission of an online application for EPF Withdrawal

The EPFO has very recently come up with the online facility of withdrawal, which has made the entire process more comfortable and less time-consuming.


To apply for the withdrawal of EPF online through the EPF portal, make sure that the following conditions are met:

  1. The UAN (Universal Account Number) is activated, and the mobile number used for activating the UAN is in working condition.
  2. The UAN is linked with your KYC, i.e. Aadhaar, PAN and the bank details along with the IFSC code.

If the above conditions are met, then the attestation shall be required of the previous employer to began the process of withdrawal can be done away with.

Easy Steps to apply for EPF withdrawal online:

Step 1: Go to the UAN portal by clicking here.

Step 2: Log in with your UAN and password and enter the captcha.

Step 3: Then, click on the tab ‘Manage’ and select KYC to check whether your KYC details such as Aadhaar, PAN and the bank details are correct and verified or not.


Step 4: After the KYC details are verified, click on the ‘Online Services’ tab and select the option ‘Claim (Form-31, 19 & 10C)’ from the drop-down menu.

Step 5: Member Details will be displayed on the screen. Enter the last 4 digits of your bank account and click on ‘Verify‘.

Step 6: Click on ‘Yes’ to sign the certificate of the undertaking and proceed further.

Step 7: Then, click ‘Proceed for Online claim’.

Step 8: Now, In the claim form, you need to select claim you want, e.g. full EPF settlement, EPF partly withdrawal or pension withdrawal, under the given tab ‘I Want To Apply For’. If the member does not fulfill the eligibility criteria for any of the services i.e. PF withdrawal or pension withdrawal, due to the service criteria, then this option will not be reflected in the drop-down menu.

Step 9: Now, Select ‘PF Advance (i.e. Form 31)’ to get withdrawal your EPF fund. Then, provide the main purpose of the advance, the amount needed and the employee’s address.

Step 10: Next step, you need to click on the certificate and submit the application. You may be required to submit the scanned documents for the purpose you have given in the form. The employer shall be required to approve the withdrawal request and only then you would receive fund in your bank account. A SMS notification is sent to your given mobile number which is registered with EPFO. Once your claim is processed, the amount shall be transferred in your bank account. It usually gets credited in your account within 15-20 days.


2. Submission of a physical application

The new composite claim form (Aadhaar) can be filled and submitted to the respective jurisdictional EPFO office without the attestation of the employer whereas, the new composite claim form (Non-Aadhaar) shall be filled and submitted with the attestation of the employer to the jurisdictional EPFO office. In case of partial withdrawal of EPF fund by employee for any circumstances as provided in the above given table, the requirement to furnish various certificates has been revised and the option of self-certification is introduced for the EPF fund subscribers.
